    Council feuds over airport

PRESSURE is being put on Penrith Council to change their stance on the Badgerys Creek Airport which was signed off on earlier this week. Newly elected Labor Councillor, Cr Ben Price (seen on the right) has spoken out against the council’s stance on the airport urging them to reconsider their support. “To say they’re going to maintain the curfew at Kingsford Smith and then dump all the planes at 3 am in the morning over the west, that doesn’t pass the equity test,” Cr Price sa

    Seat provides perfect resting place

A BEAUTIFUL carved wooden seat has been installed at Tench Reserve for residents and visitors to sit and enjoy our beautiful Nepean River views. Penrith Council worked with the Western Sydney Aboriginal Men’s Group to install the seat and recognise the valuable work the group does in our community. Independents are best for Penrith, Sue Day says

INDEPENDENT candidate for South Ward Sue Day says the best way for Penrith to grow is if it has a strong independent presence on the Penrith City Council. “People need to have the opportunity to have both sides of the argument without any bias and without a platform underpinning it,” Ms Day says. “Independents can cut away from all the political platforms and in doing so they can stand for the people they’re representing. As an independent you can make a more informed choice,

Tricia Hitchen vows to continue her fight

LIBERAL Candidate for East Ward, Cr Tricia Hitchen promised the over- development of Oxley Park would be on her agenda if she’s reelected into the Penrith City Council. “My main concern is the over- development of Oxley Park and particularly the the lack of car parking and the influx of rubbish in the area,” Cr Hitchen said. “When I’ve been out letterbox dropping and door-knocking and the biggest response I get from residents is about the plans for the Oxley Park area,” she s

    More commuter woes for Penrith

COMMUTERS at Penrith train station now have another struggle to add to the rush hour commute after Transport for NSW changed a long standing 15 minute pick up point into a taxi zone. The drop off and pick up zone out the front of Penrith station on Jane Street, used by commuters and parents picking up and dropping off children, has been changed from a 15 minute parking zone to a taxi zone. The changes have angered Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown. “We made other suggestions to Tra
